About the abandoned Florida golf course.
Royal Oak Resort and Golf Club first opened for play to the public in 1964 and was designed by Dick Wilson. Dick Wilson is well known as the architect of Doral and Bay Hill in Florida. The golf course offered 18 holes of playing grounds, an area for practicing your drive and putting and other facilities for golfers such as a pro shop, golf lessons and other golfing services. It had amenities as well for golfers which included lockers, changing rooms and shower facilities up stairs. The club house area included a restaurant, full bar, event space and a pool area for guest to cool off from the Florida heat.
Back in the mid-90s, the Florida golf course was one of the Canadian PGA champ, Moe Norman’s favorite winter hangouts. The golf course was closed in 2012 and now sits decaying with a for sale sign out front.
