About the abandoned building
Shaw’s Grocery in Salem, Florida used to be a gas station and general store. They sold live bait, ammo, gas, groceries and more to local residents and travelers. The building was built in 1969 and is a total 672 square feet according to the Taylor County Property Appraiser website.. The building sits next to the Salem Post Office along US highway 98.
